Transformational Ministry Articles

In 2008, Religion Teachers Journal published “Understanding Christian Discipleship in Five Steps” in the October 2008 issue.

This one-page overview describes the five areas of Leadership, Learning, Reflection, Support, and Service – and how they are connected to Scripture as well as other research in the fields of business and education.

In 2004, “Youth Leadership Training and Transformational Ministry” was prepared as a summary for the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry.

This four-page articles sets Transformational Ministry in the context of the ministry of Leadership Development, which “calls forth, affirms and empowers the diverse gifts, talents, and abilities of adults and young people in our faith communities,” according to Renewing the Vision (1997) page 40.

In 2003, The Living Light published an article called “Transformational Ministry in our Parish Programming.”

This 21-page article explains the core experiences and core relationships of Transformational Ministry, and reviews their connections to research as well as their application to ministry in real life.

In 2003, US Catholic published an article called, “Does the Church put faith in our youth?”

These four and a half pages describe the leadership challenges of the Church, the core relationships and core experiences identified by the Tomorrow’s Present research, and the implications for youth ministry.

In 2002, “Two Critical Factors that help Young People Consider the Call to Church Leadership: The Matrix of Support and the Cycle of Transformational Ministry” was prepared for The Forum, a symposium of hosted by the Lilly Foundation in Indianapolis, in January of 2003.

These nine pages describe the original research that led to the model of Transformational Ministry. At the time this article was written, the model had not yet been fully developed, and the graphic depiction included is not as polished as it is today. However, this first paper gives a more historic and academic perspective of the research.
