Dr. Calderone is the director of Youth Leadership at the House of Peace. She trains the House of Peace Teen Leaders, and she has developed and continues to direct the other youth leadership programs at the House of Peace.
She also does training for adults. You can invite Dr. Calderone to come to your school, church, or organization to conduct a leadership training, parish mission, retreat or workshop.
The Leadership Center of Cardinal Stritch University
The mission of The Leadership Center is to prepare and sustain leaders who are catalysts for positive transformation of individuals, organizations, and communities.
We are guided by our values of inclusion, compassion, community, respect, and peacemaking.
We believe that leadership should be focused on the transformation of self and systems to make a difference in the world around us. We serve our mission by helping people develop and sustain their leadership from the inside out and promoting the alignment of values, purpose and practice.
We build and sustain leadership capacity through programs that:
● Encourage examination and reflection about the formation of core values that serve as the cornerstone of leadership purpose.
● Support sustainability of leadership impact and the leaders themselves.
● Cultivate essential leadership knowledge, skills, and values.
● Explore the intersection of leadership, learning, and service.
The House of Peace was established by the Capuchin Friars of nearby St. Francis Parish in 1968. The Capuchins are a Roman Catholic Order of Brothers shaped by the heritage of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis created a community of equality whose mission is proclaiming the Good News and being available to all people, especially those shuned by society. Today, the executive director of the House of Peace is Brother Mark Carrico, OFM, Capuchin. In the spirit of St. Francis Assisi, the House of Peace continues to serve the needs of the people in Milwaukee’s inner city.
The Teen Leaders are a group of high school students who receive leadership training and are actively involved in providing two Tomorrow’s Present programs.
They have a retreat every fall, and a luncheon every May. Their parents and families are invited to three events each year – the brunch following their fall retreat, the “Pebbles” open house every April, and the May luncheon.
Tomorrow’s Present is a collection of youth leadership programs. Most of the these programs take place in the central city of Milwaukee where schools, churches, and families are not able to pay for these services.
Although some of the funding comes the contracted work (retreats, trainings, parish missions, etc) that Dr. Calderone is able to do, most of the funding for Tomorrow’s Present comes from individual donations and from grants from Foundations.
We are very grateful for the generosity of others who are willing to support our ministry!
